AMENDMENTS TO DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING SERVICES TABLE

PET service items 61541, 61544, 61553, 61556, 61565 and 61568, previously restricted to limited PET facilities, were approved to be listed on the MBS by Minister Roxon, and were available from 1 December 2008. Consultations with Nuclear Medicine Professionals resulted in the amendment of the item descriptors to better reflect current best practice.1 January 2009
To date, the above PET items (as amended 1 December 2008) have been print suppressed and thus not available to view in the MBS. As these PET items can be accessed by all properly accredited PET facilities, by appropriately credentialed practitioners, they will be viewable on MBS online from 1 January 2009.Click here for further information about diagnostic imaging.
